Passion Over Perfection
Cooking has always been an essential. Cooking is how we’ve come to discover deliciousness, like how potatoes are best roasted with fresh herbs and good olive oil. Cooking is also how I have discovered that it is my passion. I have always loved cooking; the planning, the timing, the mess and especially the final product. I love experimenting in the kitchen, even as a child. I remember I was so determined to make fresh whipped cream, like I had seen on Food Network, but I didn’t have any whipping cream on hand. I was excited to make this fresh whipped cream to top my many creations like homemade crepes or to simply enjoy it with strawberries. Nothing was going to stop me. So, I took 2% milk and the creamer my parents used for their coffee and whipped and whipped…and whipped. About 20 minutes later, a messy countertop and no closer to that whipped cream I had been hoping for, I realized I wasn’t going to get the result I wanted, no matter the amount of determination poured into it. After (poorly) cleaning my mess, I decided to just eat the whipped cream from the can that night. This could have been a defeat for me, but I didn’t let it. I knew I wanted to cook and I knew that I could, even if it wasn’t really cooking. I decided to let my passion override the fact this this experience wasn’t perfect. I don’t think I have ever had a perfect cooking experience, but who has? Maybe you forgot the pasta was boiling so now it’s a little overcooked. Maybe you forgot to set a timer, and those soft sugar cookies need to be served with a glass of milk for dipping. I’ve done these so-called mistakes and more, but what I have learned from all these happy accidents, is that I am continuously learning. Cooking is a constant. Food is a staple. It has always been that way. I also understand that cooking isn’t everyone’s passion and that’s okay. My boyfriend used to say that he wished he didn’t have to eat and that life would be so much easier. Of course, that was before I started cooking for him. I was a little offended by this statement and thought, ‘how could you not love eating’? But then I realized, not everyone loves cooking. My goal for this blog and this website is to provide you with my experiences in the kitchen. Not only do I want to share those with you, but I want to provide you with a service that gives you the absolute best. My love for cooking is fueled by my passion for it. I am so grateful for this passion, and I would love to share a meal that gives you that same feeling, even if for a moment or a bite. I look forward to sharing more moments and hopefully more meals with you!
